A few gentle habits to keep your April Hues pieces looking like the day they arrived.
What anti-tarnish actually means
Each April Hues piece is finished with a protective coating that slows the oxidation that dulls ordinary fashion jewellery. With normal wear and a little care, your earrings keep their warmth long after the season ends.
That doesn’t mean they’re invincible — just that they reward gentleness.
The five-minute care routine
- Dry, always. Take pieces off before you shower, swim, or sleep. Water on its own is fine; chlorine, salt, and soap are the real culprits.
- Perfume and lotion first, jewellery last. Spritz, smooth, wait a minute, then put your earrings on.
- Wipe after wearing. A soft cloth (the one in your April Hues pouch works) takes off the day’s body oils. That alone is most of the battle.
- Store flat. Pop pieces back into the pouch — chains tangle when they’re piled.
- No sprays, no scrubs. Skip silver polish, ammonia, and abrasive cloths. Anti-tarnish finishes are protective layers; harsh cleaners strip them off.
If a piece starts looking tired
A gentle wipe with a microfibre cloth lifts most surface dullness. For a deeper clean, use a drop of mild soap on warm water, dab (don’t soak), rinse, and dry immediately with a soft cloth.
Travel notes
Keep the pouch in your toiletry bag, away from anything wet. If you’re flying somewhere humid, pop a small silica sachet in with the pouch — it absorbs the moisture that quickens tarnishing.
Treat each piece like it’s already a small heirloom. That’s how it stays one.
